Laurie Solgon, the creative visionary behind Seriously Photography, is a software engineer and professional photographer. She studied IT and photography in college over 25 years ago when the medium was film (she still has all of her 35mm film developing tools).
Having switched to digital cameras over 15 years ago, Laurie’s tools are both Digital Single Lens Reflex (SLR) and Mirrorless cameras, her favorite being the Canon R5 and all of the lenses she probably didn’t need but really wanted.
She’s photographed wildlife from the Salton Sea to Sandhill Cranes in Willcox, Arizona to whales and waterfalls in Iceland, and Blue Footed Boobies and giant tortoises in the Galapagos Islands. Another favorite of hers is urban street art in London and Sydney.
Her photographic work has been included in the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum’s Baldwin Education Center Exhibitions and was featured in the photography exhibit at the Arizona State Fair in Phoenix, October 2023. Her photos were displayed as part of the SW BorderLens exhibit at the 1ART Gallery in downtown Tucson until May 31, 2024.
Laurie loves to capture images when she travels and participates in photography workshops. Some of the subjects in her portfolio include birds and critters such as jumping spiders (her favorite) and tarantulas (also her favorite) and she enjoys photographing just about anything from macro images to urban landscapes and wildlife. She has also created one of a kind pottery for over 20 years.
